Lanesville Heritage Weekend, located in beautiful Southern Indiana, is a festival that celebrates the history and heritage of small towns with others which is traditionally held on the 2nd FULL weekend in September. The festival started in 1975 and has given farmers and other folks around a place to gather in order to share their memories and heritage. It is very important to embrace your heritage and the past as it molds you into who you are today and what you will or can become in the future.
Lanesville was originally settled by a group of settlers headed by John Harbison that moved into the area around 1807. General Lane surveyed and plotted the town and therby lending his name to the settlement. The town has over 700 people residing there today.
Lanesville is famous for it's festival in September and has over 80,000 in attendance. Many come to visit old friends; many come to exhibit their tractors and wares; many come to eat; and many come to watch the parade but one thing they all have in common is they leave with good spirits, new friendships, and memories to last a lifetime. To join our organization, dues are $5.00 per year payble at Tractor Registration during the festival or at any regular meeting.
Dates for Lanesville Heritage Weekend 2008 are September 12, 13, and 14th with FREE admission and parking. All times are Eastern Daylight Savings. Our meetings are held monthly (no meeting in December) on the 3rd Thursday night at 7:30 pm in the Heritage Building. These meetings are open to the public so come and see what we are doing next!
We are a family oriented festival so NO ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES are allowed on the Heritage Grounds at any time. We also do not allow skateboards, rollerbladers, bicycles, or pets of any kind so everyone can enjoy the show. Emergency towing services are compliments of Charlie's 24-HR.
